The kids of the founding Impact Pod officially wrapped up their first full year of Impact Kids Miami with a morning of reflection, discussion, and presentations on the Q2 Human Impact theme. During the meeting, the kids reflected on meeting Dana from the leadership team of the Hope For Animals Foundation, whom they recently presented a check of $500. They discussed their experience collecting and delivering clothes to donate to the Camillus House, and how they felt putting them into the big donation box there on campus. The conversations ensued on the concept of human impact, cause and effect, ripples from human behavior, their positive and negative outcomes, and how we can live with positive intent and make a difference. It was an excellent kid-driven discussion.
The next aspect was each of them presenting on the nonprofit organizations they each researched and crafted original presentations for, including the Lotus House, the Camillus House, and the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Southern Florida. Each of the young ladies did a great job sharing what they’ve learned and answering clarifying questions from the audience. It was a lot of fun, and they were prepared.
Following the presentations, the decision was made to award and distribute $500 from the Impact Kids Miami Donor Advised Fund to the three organizations, $1,500 total! Last, the kids were given marching orders to go out this summer and find a unique service project with their families to do and come back in the fall to share what they did.
We all left energized and excited about the tremendous growth and progress of all the kids, impact the community this year, developing boardroom skills including presenting original crafted presentations, and even admitting they’ve been a little bit impacted too.
